Free Dental Care for Kids

In the province of Quebec, every child under 10 years old with a medicare card has access to free dental care!

Teeth are important to eat well, speak properly and smile confidently. Bringing your child for routine dental check ups is a crucial part of keeping them healthy!

The procedures that are covered by the medicare card are:

  • Dental exam and X-rays once per year
  • Emergency exam
  • Silver (amalgam) fillings for back teeth
  • Stainless steel crowns
  • White (composite) fillings for front teeth
  • Extractions
  • Root canals

The procedures not covered by the medicare card are:

  • 6 month check up
  • Cleanings
  • Fluoride application
  • Sealants
  • Braces or other orthodontic appliances
  • Space maintainers
